Truck Campers. For the people who truly want to get “out there”. I have been in this industry for a long time, and I have never come across a community quite like the truck camper community. I learned this when I visited the annual Truck Camper Adventure Rally in Quartzsite, AZ in 2022. Need to brush up on your first aid skills? What about crafting a roaring fire with your bare hands? Do you know how to make a stove from an old Pepsi can and a few ounces of isopropyl alcohol (seriously, it’s cool look it up)? If you do not know how to do stuff like this, I recommend calling that friend you know who owns a truck camper. The key word here is “calling”… because they almost certainly do not like to text on the 2006 flip phone that they still use…

This customer fits the prototype of a “truck camper enthusiast” in just about every way imaginable. He is a proud Vietnam veteran, who lives almost 100% of his time out of the city and off-grid. He knows how to fix and/or modify just about everything on both his tow vehicle and his Arctic Fox 990 Camper. When we first made contact, this customer expressed that he just “Wants to hit the road, and not have to worry about power.” while Boondocking. With 1000W comprised of five Rich Solar 200W panels on his roof, a Victron Muliplus II 1x 120V 3000VA Inverter/Charger combo unit running his entire 30A panel while boondocking, and a Victron SmartSolar MPPT 150/85-TR VE.CAN to receive the solar power from the roof, our customer was pretty jazzed, to say the least. Enjoy this short video and some photos showing the final product below.
